Frequently asked questions
What is the Catholic Finance Institute?
An independent think tank and research institute focused on advancing excellence in Catholic finance, investment governance and ethical stewardship — a bridge between the analytical rigour of financial markets and the principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church.
Does CFI manage capital or provide financial advice?
No. The Institute does not manage assets, does not provide financial advice to the public and does not solicit public savings. CFI is a body for research, executive education and strategic governance support: we help institutions design their governance models and ethical guidelines, while operational implementation remains with asset managers and authorised intermediaries.
Which ethical texts and frameworks do you refer to?
Our research is rooted in the social Magisterium of the Church, including Mensuram Bonam, the encyclicals Laudato Si' and Fratelli Tutti, Oeconomicae et pecuniariae quaestiones and the guidelines of national episcopal conferences such as the CEI, integrated with international financial metrics and ethical screening practice.
Who are the Institute's activities for?
Universities and business schools; religious institutions, dioceses and ecclesiastical bodies; asset managers and financial professionals; academics and advisers interested in the intersection of economics, artificial intelligence and ethical finance.
Why is the Institute based in Castel Gandolfo?
Castel Gandolfo is where history, pontifical diplomacy and care for creation — through Borgo Laudato Si' — meet. It offers partners a reserved setting for high-level meetings, investment committees and international networking, close to Rome.
How can I collaborate or access the research?
Flagship papers are open and can be downloaded from Research and Resources. Research notes and strategic insights are reserved to members of the network and institutional partners, through an accreditation process. Use the form on this page to request access, propose joint research or apply to the network.
What is the Virtual Office and is it advice?
The CFI AI Virtual Office is a governance and research tool that prepares analyses and committee dossiers. The public demo uses fictitious institutions and synthetic data. Neither the demo nor the client area constitute regulated investment advice.
